PERAN DINAS PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN DAN PERLINDUNGAN ANAK DALAM MENEKAN PERNIKAHAN DINI DI KABUPATEN KEDIRI (STUDI DI DP2KBP3A KABUPATEN KEDIRI)

Abstract

Early marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman like husband and wife but the age has not yet reached the minimum age limit. Indonesia is one of the countries with a high percentage of young marriages in the world, which is ranked 37th, while the ASEAN level is the 2nd highest after Cambodia. In Law Article 7 paragraph (1) No. 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage, it is stated that "Marriage is only allowed if a man and a woman have reached the age of 19 (nineteen) years". From the Law, it has been clearly outlined that marriage can be carried out when the bride and groom are at least 19 years old. When viewed from data from the Central Statistics Agency, in 2022 in East Java there were 9.46% of women who married at the age of <19 years. The purpose of this study is to find out the views of the PPPA Office on early marriage in Kediri Regency, as well as the role of the PPPA Office in suppressing early marriage in Kediri Regency. This research uses a type of empirical legal research and the research approach uses a sociological approach. Primary and secondary data are the source of research. Then for the data collection technique, the author uses two methods, namely: interview, and documentation. As for data analysis techniques, they use data reduction, data validation, data classification, and data analysis. The result of this study is that early marriage has many adverse impacts on family welfare, therefore the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office plays a very important role in suppressing early marriage in Kediri Regency.
