Abstract

Aluminium is a chemical element with an aluminium symbol (Al) and has an atomic number of 13. Aluminium itself is the most abundant metal, aluminium is not a heavy metal type, this element amounts to less than 8% of the earth's surface and is the third most abundant. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an influence of the artificial aging process on mechanical properties (impact test, tensile test, and hardness test) and to compare the mechanical properties of aluminium 6061 which was carried out by artificial aging and not treated, the mechanical properties of aluminium were improved by the process Artificial Aging is affected by temperature and time. The method used by this research is quantitative method. Researchers experimented with providing artificial aging heat treatment. By testing the mechanical properties (impact test, tensile test, and hardness test) on aluminium 6061 with a holding time of 1 hour. From the research that has been done it can be seen that the Artificial Aging process influences the mechanical properties of the 6061 aluminium. It is seen that an increase in the strength value of the aluminium 6061 given the Artificial Aging Heat treatment with a Holding time of 1 hour. After all specimens have been tested with impact tests, tensile tests, and hardness tests.
