DIFFERENCES IN HEALTH PROMOTION RESULTS USING LEAFLETS AND VIDEOS ON WOMEN'S KNOWLEDGE ABOUT BSE (Breast-Self Examination) AT THE KEDUNGLO KEDIRI ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL FOUNDATION

Abstract

The most common cancer in Indonesia is breast cancer which reached 68,858 cases (16.6%) out of a total of 396,914 new cancer cases. Meanwhile, the number of deaths reached more than 22 thousand cases. Breast Self-Examination (SADARI) is the first step for women to detect breast cancer early. When doing SADARI, there are several steps to find out the abnormal changes that occur in the breasts. Health promotion media is a useful means to display health messages or information so that the target can gain knowledge and then be able to change behavior to be more positive. This study aims to find out the difference in health promotion through leaflets and videos on women's knowledge about SADARI at the Kedunglo Kediri Islamic Boarding School Foundation. The design of this study is Quasi Experimental with Pretest and Posttest two Group Design involving 60 respondents who meet the inclusion criteria, using purposive sampling techniques. Then it was divided into two groups, each with 30 respondents in the leaflet group and 30 respondents in the video group. The research instrument used a questionnaire through googleform. This study was carried out by taking a pre-test on each group on the first day, then an intervention on the second day and then a post-test on the seventh day. The analysis used is the Mann-Whitney test. The results of this research analysis were obtained with an average of 84.0 in the leaflet group and 85.4 in the video group. This shows that there is a difference in the results of health promotion through leaflets and videos on SADARI knowledge with a value of p = 0.008 (p<0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that health promotion using video media is more effective than leaflet media to increase knowledge about SADARI. The Kedunglo Kediri Islamic Boarding School Foundation is expected to increase the sharing of health videos to workers as education so that knowledge and awareness of health will increase.
