This research is motivated by the beliefs and practices that exist in the village community of Tukum, Tekung District, Lumajang Regency towards the calculation of weton for the prospective bride and groom before getting married. This has been deeply rooted and implemented continuously so that it remains sustainable to this day. Research that answers two problem formulations, namely: 1. How is the belief of the Tukum village community towards the calculation of weton for prospective couples bride and groom?, and 2. How is the practice of the Tukum village community in determining the prospective bride and groom using the weton count. The purpose of this study was to find out and understand the beliefs and practices of calculating weton in Tukum Village, Tekung District, Lumajang Regency. The type of research used is empirical juridical research, intended to find out the unwritten law that applies in the community. With a qualitative approach, it is intended to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by research subjects regarding the beliefs and practices of weton calculation. The research data was generated through interviews. Then analyzed through 4 stages, namely: Transcription, Organizing data, Classification, and data storage. The results of this study indicate that out of ten couples and a religious leader fully believe in the weton calculation because it will bring blessings and happiness and avoid things that are not desirable after the wedding. The practice of calculating the weton is that the prospective bride and groom go to a religious figure who understands the calculation of the weton and then they calculate the weton based on the number of days and their market. There are also those who dismiss the meaning of weton calculations that are not good by still carrying out marriage, after the marriage proved the meaning is not good it happened, then they came back to religious leaders to ask for a solution in the form of marriage renewal (Tajadud Nikah).
