HUBUNGAN TINGKATPENGETAHUAN IBU TENTANG GIZI DENGAN STATUS GIZI PADA BALITA DI PUSKESMAS SUKORAME KOTA KEDIRI

Abstract

The sufferer malnutrition children generally have low immunity and this makes them prone to infections that can cause a death. This case can be caused by the lack of mother's knowledge to their under five children, especially in nutrition fulfillment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relatio
nship between the levels of mother's knowledge about nutrition with the nutrition status of children under five in Sukorame Public Health Center area of Kediri City. This study used correlational analytic research type with cross sectional approach. The populations were all mothers who have children under five in Sukorame Public Health Center of Kediri City as many as 3,595 respondents with sample of 360 respondents which was taken by purposive sampling technique. The data that were used in this study were data from the quiz results and the data about the result of weighing children under five from KMS cards. Data were analyzed by using the Spearman Rank test. Based on the analysis result, there was found that respondents who were knowledge about children under - five nutrition were included in less category as many as 142 respondents (39.4%), children under five who were included in the category of malnutrition status as many as 172 respondents (47.8%) from the total respondents that exist and there was a relationship between mother's knowledge with nutritional status in children under five (p = 0,000 <0.05 then Ho was rejected). The level of relationship were including strong  and positive (Correlation Coefficient 0.608). It means that the more better mother's knowledge about nutrition, the more better the nutritional status of children under five.
